A recent survey by SellCell reveals that a significant number of Apple and Samsung smartphone users find the AI features on their devices to be of minimal value. Specifically, 73% of iPhone users and 87% of Samsung users believe these AI enhancements add little to no benefit to their smartphone experience
Despite the growing integration of AI in smartphones, user engagement remains low. Among iPhone users, 58.4% have not utilized the new AI features, with 57.6% citing the lack of a software update as the primary reason. Similarly, 53.1% of Samsung users have not engaged with their device’s AI capabilities, often due to perceptions of limited usefulness or concerns about accuracy and privacy.
The survey also indicates a decline in brand loyalty. Approximately 16.8% of iPhone users would consider switching to a Samsung device if it offered superior AI features, reflecting a drop in loyalty from 92% in 2021 to 78.9% in 2024. Samsung users show a similar trend, with only 67.2% expressing brand loyalty, down from 74% in 2021.
Furthermore, the majority of users are unwilling to pay for AI services. Only 11.6% of Apple users and 4% of Samsung users would consider subscribing to AI features, indicating a general reluctance to invest in these technologies.
These findings suggest that while AI continues to be a focal point for smartphone manufacturers, consumers remain skeptical about its practical value and are hesitant to embrace these features fully.
